Dear Death for dVerse

Dear Death,

Do you hear the painful cries
     of a world in crisis

people lost looking for signs
    to ease their grief

what choice remains
     when souls are lost

brushes with  near death
     happening each day..

broken hearts... pauses
    vital rhythm of life

how does one fight the battle
    the panoply of power

flatland in the journey
let us take a leap of faith...

Conquer death with life...

Author's note: The challenge was to create a Dada Poem..how this works is you take  some text  cut it up into pieces and pick words to create a poem.  For this exercise I made a copy of a page from a book I am reading..cut into pieces and selected words randomly to construct this poem. This was an interesting prompt..thank you Charles...

  2. Nicely done
    Under your sun
    All can take the leap
Just land in a hay heap
    Then roll away
So fun to do at ones bay haha
    Landing on something hard though
Would not be nice at my show
    catch me when I fall?
I only weigh 10 pounds at my hall haha

    2. Cats do leap
      into the deep
Although the myth is not true
On their feet a landing doesn't always come due
Glad you will catch the cat
      So he won't go splat

    3. What?? you mean it's not true
that they always land on their feet
I thought they had some magic flute
that helped them stay on their feet
have no fear, I will catch the cat
      before he hits the mat..

  3. nice....in your approach you used the words like a word list...making it a bit more coherent than most....panoply was a new word on me...i think we often find the most life in those leaps....

    1. Hi Brian,

I cut up a pieces of text I was reading but, I didn't use all the words..not sure if I was suppose to..so perhaps, this is why this is a bit more coherent. In any case it was fun..but, I agree more of a word list poem.

Death hears it all right, but yes, conquer death with life. Great job keeping the theme from start to end, a fantastic Dadaist write here. -Mike

    1. Hi Claudia,

I agree, but some find it hard to take the leap.

These may have been random choices when you 'Dada' them. But reading them make lots of sense. It's relevant to the dare-devil antics of our young drivers. They become demons on the road! Nicely Trudessa!

Your poem reads like a very well thought out message - I do not feel times are so bad, though I think people often feel this way - but you do describe that feeling very well. k.

    1. Hello,

I took text from a book I am reading "Dreamways of the Iroquois". The passage was about dreaming your soul back. So, I am not surprised that a powerful message would be transformed into this poem. While life has it's ups and downs many do feel lost in their internal and external world.

Thank you for reading this and your comment as I always appreciate feedback.

I am glad you do not feel times are bad as that is a sign of hope.

      Peace...

  9. Lovely. Sometimes it is difficult to make those leaps. I especially like the way you addressed your poem to Death. Thank you.

    1. Thank you! I don't usually address "Death "but, for some reason I was lead this way for this particular write.
