dVerse June 1, 2013 Cleansing - Bathroom prompt hosted by Claudia

Cleansing

The day is rough like an angry sea
I seek soothing  relief,  to dream
to feel the lulls of yesterday

filling the tub, warm water
lavender  bubbles layers of foam
fragrant candles, turn off the lights

soft music playing beyond the curtain
slowly I  slip naked into the warmth
relaxing sensations take over my senses

closing my eyes,  sinking...sinking
into a distant land where this poet can dream
where my thoughts take formation

deep cleansing of my soul
soaking in a luxurious scent
I feel refreshed and pleasantly clean

sip some wine, forget about time
  write down a few lines
discovering the waterfall of my mind

dare not disturb the silence
nor pull the plug, fearing
my dreams will swirl away

into the vortex of the drain
forever gone
so, here I remain

until the last bubble dissolves

author's note: Claudia thank you for a fun prompt..

For me also, a bath is so healing - well expressed. K.

    1. Hi Brian,

Yes, a warm bath is nice when one has the time..a bigger tub would require a bigger bathroom and I'm afraid mine is rather small and no remodeling will I do. So, I just relax in what I have.

  3. you sure no how to relax
And not worry about the world or tax
    Just slipping away
    Into your own little bay
Not gonna happen here I fear
the bathtub in this place is too nasty for me to sit in it with my naked rear lol

    1. Good Evening to you,

      It is nice to relax
      and forget about the tax
      but, the reality is I
      usually have to take a
      quick shower, as I zip
off to work five days a week
So, when I have the time, away
I slip into the warm waters
      to dream a bit...

Have a good night! (Dream big)

  5. Oh, this sounds lovely, Truedessa. I liked the idea of bubbles, candles, and wine and the poetic inspiration that comes as a result of this warm and wonderful time.

    1. Hi Mary,

I think the setting sets the inspiration for relaxation and letting the mind wander. One never knows what the outcome will be. Thanks for the reply.

  6. It's such a grand ritual when one is uninhibited and has all the time for it. Rightly said Trudessa!

I would never rent an apartment or buy a house that did not have a bathtub.water is a healer. I think it is a spiritual experience almost which you describe so well in your poem

    1. Hello,

I agree water holds healing properties and whenever, I have the time I submerge myself in a bath, better yet a swim. I love the feel of water against my flesh...Thank you for the read and comment.

  9. nice..writing in the bathtub..relaxed and dreaming with candles and wine is a good thing..and maybe also a way to keep those dreams disappearing through the drain at the end of the bath...smiles

I like how after the day "rough like an angry sea" there is a "sinking...sinking
into a distant land where this poet can dream" and then absolute bliss "sip some wine, forget about time". I also liked how you ended it.

We may have each written bubble bath poems, but I thank you for showing me how to take the thought even farther, to mine the poetic depths of deeper thoughts !!
    "closing my eyes, sinking...sinking
into a distant land where this poet can dream
where my thoughts take formation" !!!
This is excellent and really paves the way to an awesome ending !!!!

I love a bubble bath--and this is a nice one. My favorite stanza:
"sip some wine, forget about time
    write down a few lines
discovering the waterfall of my mind" and the image that stands out the most to me is the "vortex of the drain" enjoyed this!
